January 2012

What an honor, to have my writerly musings on writing posted as a “Guiding Light” on Susan Bono’s delightful journal site, Tiny Lights.

This is an homage to Lorrie Moore’s essay, How to Become a Writer. It’s in her first book, Self-Help, which includes “How to be an Other Woman.” How tempting it is it to do an “after 60” version of that one!

Having gotten a late start in this business, I was delighted when it all came together in 2011 with my first creative nonfiction publications, four of them:

Seventh Inning Stretch   –  Hobart, April

Elvis Standing By  –  Eclectica, April-May

Walls the Color of Tears  –  Foliate Oak, May

My Moving Cage – r.kv.r.y., Summer, with an interview

And a contest winning essay, Five Stars: An Adventure in Amatory Dining, at Sheila Bender’s Writing It Real.

Of course I have my work cut out for me in 2012. In a nutshell that means:

1) keep writing, and

2) start a blog – ok, here it is.
