I am a freelance writer, avid reader and Virginia Woolfophile in San Diego, California.
My personal essays–in which Woolf makes occasional appearances–have appeared in more than sixty print and online literary journals, listed and linked on my “Published Work” page. In 2016 “My Quarrel with Grieving” was cited among the Notable Essays in the Best American Essays, and “Solo in Seattle” was nominated for the Best of the Net Anthology.
I contributed a chapter to a book, Writing after Retirement (Rowman & Littlefield, 2014): “A Muse of One’s Own: Finding Inspiration for Your Writing Life.”
I have published work about the life and work of Virginia Woolf, including two monographs in the Bloomsbury Heritage Series published by Cecil Woolf Publishers, London: “Beyond the Icon: Virginia Woolf in Contemporary Fiction” in 2010 and “Virginia Woolf as Memoirist” in 2014. Articles and reviews appear in publications of the International Virginia Woolf Society and the Virginia Woolf Society of Great Britain. I’m also a regular contributor to Blogging Woolf.
